Helping the PTO

There are many ways you can help with P.T.O. There is no task too small or too big. Any help is appreciated whether it’s helping man a bake sale for an hour to chairing an event. Remember by your volunteering helps to raise money to fund the many various programs that strengthen our school. Without your help we may not always be able to host an event or fund a program

Helping the PTO from home

P.T.O. participates in various programs that require little effort. You could collect labels from Campbell’s Soup product www.labelsforeducation.com, Box Tops www.boxtops4education.com, or bring us your empty ink cartridges/cell phones www.staples.com into the school foyer. These programs contribute equipment and cash to Ayers. Teachers also request needed supplies for their classrooms that can be sent in with your child from home. For more info. contact a P.T.O representative or classroom teacher.

P.T.O. sponsored programs

P.T.O.’s function has changed over the years. P.T.O. runs a school store, which gives the children an opportunity to purchase needed school supplies. We also provide funding for various in-school and after-school enrichment programs. We help subsidize Homework Helpers, a tutoring program that is available to the students.

Allocation of PTO raised funds

P.T.O. uses the money for many things. To start, P.T.O. uses almost $12,000.00 to support children’s educational field trips. We give each teacher $100.00 to be used to help supply their classrooms at the beginning of the school year. $6000.00 is used for in school enrichment programs. These programs expose students to various cultural experiences. We purchase peanut free lunch bins and first aid kits for each individual classroom. We also supply the Teachers Closet (snacks and tissues) for students who may have forgotten their snacks throughout the year. We provide High School Scholarship to Ayers Alumni. We have provided educational textbooks for the classroom and school library. We purchase playground supplies such as side walk chalk, kick balls, and jump ropes for recess. We purchased and installed play equipment for the pre-k and kindergartners.

Is the money used for technology?

Yes. The P.T.O. paid for an electrician to upgrade the usage of the computer lab. We have also, with contributions, been able to provide computers to classrooms where needed. Laptop computers to various teachers. We have paid for Connect Ed., a city-wide program that helps contact parents in the event of an emergency. Our computer lab has been upgraded to be state of the art. Thanks to the grant from the city we are much closer to it being a reality. We will be continuing to commit money each year towards computers and equipment with a goal for all classrooms to have two updated computers. These items include overhead projectors, phaser printer, carts and, Lexia computer program.

Finding out about upcoming events

Attend monthly meetings, read notices, visit our website www.ayersryalside.com, get involved, and ask questions.
P.T.O. is a great way to get involved and help make a difference at Ayers. The role of P.T.O. has changed over the last several years due to budget restraints. We purchase supplies and fund various programs. There is no task too small or large. Any participation will only benefit the students of Ayers. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or friend, together we can make a difference. Volunteering has played a vital role to the school and will continue to in the coming school year. Please feel free to make suggestions and comments. This can only help make Ayers Ryal Side the best elementary school. Together We Soar!
